Join Melodia Studio for an exploration of songs that have inspired children and families for ages. In this class, you and your baby will bounce, sway, wiggle and tickle to children’s folk songs preserved and passed down through generations.
Benefits of Learning Music:
Moving and singing along to simple melodies and rhythms, you and your baby will develop neurological pathways for:
- Music intelligence
- Sensitivity to expressiveness & beat
- Musical memory & movement
- Language development
- Recognition of patterns and mathematical understanding
- Fine and gross motor skills
- Focused listening skills
Social Benefits: Moms, dads, grandparents and other caretakers will get to bond with their baby while connecting with other new parents and babies. Modern society has spread families out over greater distances, isolating nuclear families, and stunting the aural passing on of folk music and traditions. The songs and activities you will learn together can be enjoyed within a community setting and at home to be eventually passed down to future generations!
About the Class: The class will be led by Ariel Bui and follow The First Steps in Music curriculum designed by John M. Feierabend, Ph.D., with folk songs gathered over the course of 20 years and based on extensive research of the musical development of young children.
You may be a non-musician hoping to develop musical understanding alongside your child. You could be a seasoned musician with a desire to learn repertoire and teaching techniques designed for your child’s stage of development. Whatever your background, the ultimate reason for joining the class will surely be the same…
You love your baby and want what’s best for them. Share the gift of music together to create a bond that will last a lifetime…and beyond!
Tuition & Scheduling: The 45-minute classes will run in 8-week semesters with ideally 5-8 families per class. Tuition rates are $160 per semester, with a $10 referral discount for every attending registrant you refer. Once enough families register to form a class, registrants will be contacted with semester details.
